The Princess of Wales cut a very trendy figure as she checked out the brand-new V&A East Storehouse in London the other day - but one element of her clothing appeared to break the gown code.

Kate, 43, stepped out for her first engagement of the month - and her first because returning from the half-term break - in an elegant trouser suit by designer Alexander McQueen for the event, in addition to a white scoop-neck top.

For her devices, the princess selected a stylish belt, Laura Lombardi chain pendant, and a pair of streamlined black heels from Prada.

But while Kate looked extremely classy, speaking, she did break an obscure style guideline during her check out with her option of shoes.

‘We suggest wearing useful clothes and flat shoes,’ the V&A East Storehouse’s site checks out. ‘The metal grid flooring is not appropriate for stilettos or kittycat heels.’

However, the princess appeared totally at ease and masterfully handled the irregular floors, even while using a pair of tough heels.

When inquired about Kate’s option of footwear, Tristram Hunt, the director of the V&A, told PEOPLE publication: ‘She is a pro! She handled that!’

He added: ‘She had an extremely energy. She was very energetic and focused. We last saw her about 2 years back.
